Synopsis:
The novel “Tarzan of the Apes” by Edgar Rice Burroughs is one of the most frequently adapted works of world literature: since 1917 almost 100 “Tarzan” films have been made. This 3-d animation film is also based on Burroughs’s story: during a research expedition John Greystroke, his wife and his young son John Jr. crash with their helicopter deep in the african jungle. Only John Jr. survives, and he is brought up by the gorilla mother Kala. He now calls himself Tarzan, the ape with no fur. Quickly Tarzan learns the incredible talents of his new family and even becomes capable of standing up to the “evil” ape Tublat. Almost ten years pass before Tarzan encounters a human-being again: the courageous and beautiful Jane Porter from new York, who is visiting her father here in the jungle. The young “ape with no fur” finds himself thinking about the girl again and again, until Jane comes back to the area for a second time. Together they explore the natural world and fall passionately in love. But Jane has brought a businessman, William Clayton, with her and he – unbeknown to her – is following a mean, selfish plan. The lovers soon find themselves in Clayton’s way and Tarzan is compelled to use all his talents and cunning to save his home and the woman he loves.
