Synopsis:
What can you do when you're just ten years old and still very small – well, except for your big mouth, that is? Marcello, a Swedish-Italian boy from the suburbs, is about to find out. Sometimes wishful thinking and reality are worlds apart. How can you make your dream of a professional football career come true when you only have a home-made football kit and you can't even score a goal? As an altarboy, Marcello can always turn to Jesus for advice, but at school and in the playground he has to put up with quite a lot of ribbing. Then, just as things are beginning to look really gloomy, Fatima arrives in his class. She is the same age as Marcello, comes from Lebanon, is self-assured and plays a mean game of football. She teaches him to believe in his dreams – even if they do not tally with those of his parents and even if it means being bullied by his classmates. Marcello and Fatima become best friends, and soon find love as well. (Nordic Filmdays Luebeck 2002)
