Two twins, Emma and Tom, and their mother move into an abandoned, ramshackle old house. The twins soon discover that not only is the house haunted, it hides a secret treasure, a legendary giant diamond. Enter two cutthroat villains who want the diamond back at any cost. In the ensuing treasure hunt, the twins get an unexpected leg-up from a genial ghost, the Fakir of Bilbao, who has been bottled up inside a ballpoint pen for half a century. With the help of their phantasmal new friend, the twins find the treasure, nab the crooks and bring a new man into their widowed mother's life.
