Synopsis:
Findus, the cat, needs a new bed. “The old one has become too small,” says Pettson, while Findus protests: “No, I have grown up!” From now on, the cat only wants to be called “the big cat” and have a say from time to time. And he wants to do dangerous things, like pulling a huge fish out of the water without Pettson's help, or sleeping alone in a tent. Both plans do not work quite as well and yet Findus cannot be talked out of being a big guy and having a mind of his own. When Pettson builds a new bed for him, the cat practices hops in the evening and in the morning – as high as possible and as loud as possible! Completely exhausted, Pettson decides to convert the old outhouse into a house for his wild cat to hop about. It is wonderful in there, so wonderful that Findus does not want to come out anymore. He has lunch there and even sleeps there. “When the little ones grow up, things change”, says neighbour Beda. But this is no comfort to poor old Pettson!
