Katja, a Danish girl age 9, is a passionate birdwatcher. One day a thunderstorm moves in as Katja watches a nest of peregrine falcons. Katja rescues the baby falcon and seeks refuge in the back of a truck where she falls asleep. Katja will be surprised when she wakes up: she is in a strange southern country and now the adventure starts...

Lars Hesselholdt's Falkehartje is one of the numerous children's films which portray the friendship between a child and an animal, and at the same time it is one of the many films where the theme reflects the modern hurried way of living, where grown-ups no longer have time for their children.
"Katja's Adventure" is Lars Hesselholdt's second feature film.
