In Orange

Original title: In Oranje
German title: In Orange
Netherlands, 2004

Director: Lürsen, Joram
Production company: Motel Films
Co-producers: Fu Works

Synopsis:
To play in the orange jersey of the Dutch national soccer team one day! Remco is crazy about soccer and dreams of being selected for the Dutch U12-team for young players under the age of 12. His father and coach Erik shares this dream of his 11-year-old son with the same obsession. Nevertheless father and son often quarrel like mad, because Erik knows everything better and is interfering all the time! But when Erik dies all of a sudden, Remco’s world falls apart. And shortly afterwards Remco has an accident. Only with the help of his friends Winston and Anneke plus ample voodoo magic he regains his belief in life and in his dream.
An exciting film which covers life’s big themes – love, friendship, death – in a casual way. Not only for kids with an interest in kicking the ball once in a while

Comments:
"This soccer-drama tells the story of 12-year-old Remco, who has to come to terms with the death of his father and at the same time tries to fulfil his biggest dream: to get into the Dutch national team for young players. We thought this film has a certain kick to it, not only because it is about soccer." (Filmfest Hamburg 2004, Children's Jury)

"In spite of the heavy theme of the film, the director succeeded in putting
a lot of humour in the film and this in a very subtle manner. This adds a
sparkling touch to the film. The film doesn't need special effects or
special camera tricks because of the strong story. The music fits the film
very well and supports every emotion in this beautiful film." (Jury Antwerp/Brugge 2005)

Marketing strategies:
It was a hit in Dutch cinemas and awarded with a Golden Film. In several countries remakes are planned: Germany, Belgium, Spain, England and France (!).
