In their closing statement, the Filem’on festival in Brussels described the feeling of welcoming the audience in the cinemas as “Ecstatic. We enjoyed every minute of it!” Among the three ECFA Awards handed out, the most striking one was the ECFA Doc Award for RAISE THE BAR.

Cinemira introduces unique pitch format
The 4th Cinemira Int’l Children’s & Youth Film Festival in Budapest spanned two weekends in October, one dedicated to Cinemira TEEN and one to Cinemira KIDS. In pitch forums for the first time not only professional filmmakers but also teenagers presented their film ideas. Meanwhile, 10 European festival representatives attended the Partner up! Conference to discuss potential future collaborations.

While in the second Oulu Children’s Film Forum, the challenges of international production and financing of children’s films were discussed, the ECFA Jury awarded two titles from Oulu Festival competition: THE APE STAR and 90%.

Athens Festival pays special attention to Greek content
The 4th Athens Int’l Children’s Film Festival (ATHICFF) celebrated its triumphant return to physical venues with an expanded programme of over 120 films screening (13-21 November) across 4 venues in Athens. Among the 13 feature films was THE APE STAR, the first feature film dubbed in Greek by the festival, in collaboration with the Swedish Embassy.

A sausage for Tallinn
The ECFA Jury at the Just Film Children & Youth Film Festival in Tallinn awarded the film with the undoubtedly best title of the year: MY DAD IS A SAUSAGE (by Anouk Fortunier, Belgium).
Kids Kino Festival: “DRAGON GIRL happens here and now”
“Although the film is set in another country, and one of the characters is a dragon, it is, actually, a story about what is happening here and now,” said the Main Jury of the Polish Kids Kino Festival about the film DRAGON GIRL. The ECFA Jury chose the same film, with a similar justification.
