The Audience Award, the ultimate test case for a film’s popularity, was shared in this year’s FIFEM (Montreal Int’l Children’s Film Festival) by two Quebec films. A boost of confidence for domestic production! The winners were KATAK, THE BRAVE BELUGA (by Christine Dallaire-Dupont & Nicola Lemay) and COCO FERME (by Sébastien Gagné).

In 2020 the AleKino! festival launched a tradition of yearly online meetings in which festivals exchange experiences and tackle challenges that are inextricably linked to the pandemic situation. The 2023 edition went under the title “Back to the cinemas – European children & youth film festivals in the post pandemic year”.
The Chania Film Festival presents the Cinema Summer School & Camp, an international encounter concerning cinema education with an emphasis on documentaries and on the culture of Crete.
AniFest is an international short film festival for children and teenagers, the only one of its kind in Albania. Since 2010, the message conveyed to children is this: if a film is a book, then the festival is a library.

The Rock Demers Award, a prestigious children’s film award on the North-American continent, was launched last year with the purpose to encourage and inspire, by recognising individuals and institutions that have distinguished themselves through their contribution to children’s cinema. At the Montreal Int’l Children’s Film Festival (FIFEM), the award was handed out to Canadian distributor Chantale Pagé.
