ECFA Shorts Compilation on tour

Ten amazing short films, all nominations for the ECFA Short Award 2023, are touring the European children & youth film festivals. A new and exciting short film distribution initiative by ECFA.

The compilation contains 10 shorts from Slovenia, Greece, Czech Republic, France and Belgium – all of them very different, from animation and documentary to live action – all with one thing in common: they were nominated for ECFA’s Best Short Award 2023. During the Berlinale, two titles were voted as the winners in an ex aquo. THE RIGHT WORDS (by Adrian Moyse Dullin, France – photo) tells of a declaration of first love in the delicate frame of social media. The story, written by the talented Emma Benestan, follows a group of young teenagers on a bus ride, filmed in the Parisian suburbs. The short animation LUCE AND THE ROCK proves illustrator Britt Raes (Belgium) as an independent director with a talent for heart-warming storytelling and a sharp eye for basic design and humour.

Together with the eight other nominated titles, these films will be screened in at least six European festivals, committed to the dissemination of European film culture. The tour will start in April 2023 at the Int’l Short Film Festival Oberhausen, where Head of the festival Hilke Doering will screen the films under the label ‘ECFA Short Compilation’. Later the compilation will travel through Europe, from Nordic Copenhagen to Southern Cyprus and Albania, and finally ending at the Olympia Film Festival in Greece. The project team behind the ECFA Short Compilation consisting of Felix Vanginderhuysen (General Secretary of ECFA) and driving force Mariella Harpelunde Jensen (programmer of the BUSTER Film Festival in Copenhagen) is grateful to the filmmakers and distributors for the opportunity to bring ten artful films to a larger audience. We’ll keep you posted on the success of the project, in regards to the audience and their appreciation.
