Cineteca di Bologna launches virtual Cineclub

In the city of Bologna, children’s cinema is always on the programme, year round. Every weekend the Cineteca di Bologna’s educational department Schermi e Lavagne is dedicating a special programme to the young audience in the Cinema Lumière. But now that cinemas have been closed since March, new opportunities had to be created.

Unique ‘must see’ opportunity in film literacy

The Danish Film Institute launched an open online course, a comprehensive English-language initiative aiming to globally promote film education. The freely accessible course in the form of a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) is one of the first of its kind in this field.

Oberhausen Festival goes online

The 66th Int’l Short Film Festival Oberhausen is happy to announce that all films selected for this year’s Children’s & Youth Film Competition will be presented in an online edition between 13-18 May, also including all ECFA Short Award nominees from 2019.

Deadline approaching for Open Forum BIKY (South-Korea)

Since 2011, the Busan Int’l Kids & Youth Film Festival (BIKY – see presentation here) has engaged in a yearly film education forum and seminar. From this year on BIKY is broadening its horizon, launching the first international ‘Open Mic’ Forum, with an agenda that is open to the public.

Taoba is first ECFA member from Georgia

Founded in 2018 by the Culture & Education Foundation and the National Youth and Children’s Palace, Taoba is the only international youth film festival in Georgia dedicated to young audience development and the promotion of film education.

Virtual reality in the hospital

‘Film in Hospital’, instigated by JEF (Belgium) was launched internationally two years ago together with BUFF (Sweden) and Sedmi Kontinent (Croatia) as an online platform for film screenings and audience engagement, dedicated to children in hospitals, revalidation centres or recovering at home.
