One Night in Oslo

Original title: Natt til 17.
German title: Nacht in Oslo, Eine
Norway, 2014

Director: Svensson, Eirik
Production company: Maipo Film AS
Age recommendation: 14 years and up

Synopsis:
Sam loves his friends and said that he could die for them. But lately he has spent more time on his new girlfriend. The problem is that Thea is Sam's best friend's ex-gilrfriend. We follow the youngsters from early morning through the night and into the morning hours on May 17th. A day where friendships are tested and hate meet love.
Night of the 17th is about the two 15-year old best friends Sam and Amir, and how their friendship is put to the test during a spring night in Oslo. Amir wants to get his ex-girlfriend back, only to realize she is now seeing his best friend Sam. Jealousy, despair and a seemingly unsolvable dilemma ignites a rapidly accelerating conflict during the course of the night to the Norwegian national day 17th of may.
With this film I want to approach this age group with a cinematic narration that feels immideate, relevant and autenthic. I have pushed forward to let the teenagers own energy be the force of the film and to let language and expression come from the teenagers themselves to make the film truly reflect their own reality.
The conflicts this night are handled with decisions made intantly and instinctively, and this challenges both their close friendship and have huge consequences for the people around them.
