The International Festival of Animated Films for Children in Bratislava is with 15.000 admissions one of the most important festivals for this genre.
After a twenty-year stint, managing director Sannette Naeyé has decided to bid farewell to Cinekid the Film, Television and New Media Festival based in Amsterdam.
In Chemnitz (Germany) a jury of 16 children from eight European countries awards the best film for children. This year the prize went to Karel Janák for his film “The Crown Prince” (Czech Republic, 2015).
The jury at the “Lucas International Festival for Young Filmlovers” in Frankfurt (Germany) gathers both children and adult experts. This year they have chosen “Offline – Are You Ready for the Next Level?” by Florian Schnell (Germany, 2016) as best film for children in the category 8+.
The late follower to Joachim Massanek’s “Wild Soccer Bunch”-series received the award for the best film in the 6+-section at this years Giffoni Film Festival: “Wild Soccer Bunch – The Legend Lives” (Germany, 2016).
The audience award at Kinderfilmfest Munich, the children’s section of Filmfest München, went to “At Eye Level” (“Auf Augenhöhe”), directed by Evi Goldbrunner and Joachim Dollhopf (Germany, 2016), a film made within the German programme “Der besondere Kinderfilm”.
With “The Celestial Camel” by Juri Feting (Russia, 2015) as winner of the main prize and “Land of the Good Kids” by Olga Kaptur (Russia, 2013) awarded by the children’s jury two Russian films received the prizes for long films at the Kinlolub Filmfestival for Children and Young People which was held at Krakow and several other cities in the South of Poland.
