The Schlingel team is optimistic about organising the festival’s 2021 edition (9–16 October). “I don’t think things can get worse than it was in 2020, and still we reached out to 13,000 viewers. Since we managed to do it once, we can do it again,” says festival director Michael Harbauer.

This year, the Cinema in Sneakers festival in Warsaw will run in two sections: a short (19 April – 30 May) and a feature film (from 24 May – 24 June) festival. But there’s a bigger plan too … a selection of films exploring the urban jungle. “With these films we want to inspire you to stimulate your imagination and to think critically about your surroundings.”
The JEF festival in Antwerp (and other Belgian cities) in general is the place to open the new ECFA Award season. During the festival’s closing ceremony it turned out that all winners had an interesting element in common… With a grand prize for WHEN HITLER STOLE PINK RABBIT, the first ECFA nomination of the year.

In 2020 FIFEM Montreal was one of the last festivals to physically take place before the world went into lockdown. One year later, the new edition marked the return of the ECFA Award to Canada. The winner was the Norwegian film SISTERS.
