A big year for Luftkind Filmverleih

ECFA’s new member Luftkind Filmverleih is a Hamburg-based company co-producing animated content – exclusively for children – and bringing animated movies to the theatres. Luftkind’s ambitions for 2024 are big!

Luftkind was founded by producer Vanessa Ciszewski (Katuh Studio) in 2020. “In the middle of the pandemic, the time felt right for a new beginning and the realisation of a long-standing dream.” Vanessa has a strong belief that cultural education is just as essential for children as good food, and that beautiful cinematic experiences for little ones are a must. Under the motto ‘Little cinema guests – big adventures!’ The company offers age-appropriate curated animated film programmes for first-time cinema-goers.

ANIMAL TALES OF CHRISTMAS

Luftkind started right away with a wonderful coup – the award-winning festival favourite MARONA’S FANTASTIC TALE (by Anca Damian, France/Romania  – photo). But 2024 will be a major test for the young company. The very first in-house production ANIMAL TALES OF CHRISTMAS (French leading producer: Les Valseurs) has been completed and is eagerly hoping for many festival screenings, enthusiastic audiences and a long exploitation period ahead. ANIMAL TALES OF CHRISTMAS is a modern Christmas classic for a 4+ audience. Five adventures set in the Christmas period, starring cute, funny animals, and directed by female directors from around the world: Caroline Attia, Camille Alméras, Ceylan Beyoğlu, Natalia Chernysheva, Haruna Kishi and Olesya Shchukina. The German theatrical release is scheduled for November 2024. In France, Little KMBO will release the film in cinemas, while The Bureau will take care of international sales.

Luftkind Filmverleih is open to international cooperation with ECFA members and is looking forward to meeting like-minded producers, distributors and institutions.
