Online Film Analysis Course by Ciclic

Committed to boosting access to visual culture for everybody, Ciclic launches an English version of an online film analysis course to be shared far and wide!

ECFA member Ciclic Centre-Val de Loire is a regional agency, offering a wide range of services, from support to cinema and the audio-visual to educational programmes on moving images and books. One of their excellent educational services is the “online film analysis course”, that now has been made freely available in an English language version.

Hosted on the UPOPI (Université Populaire des Images – The People’s University for Images) website, this interactive course is aimed at cinephiles, facilitators, teachers or students who would like to engage in film analysis. The course draws on excerpts of films by the great masters such as Hitchcock, Truffaut, Kubrick, Cameron, and Spielberg to expand on the notions of film vocabulary and analysis. It includes an impressive number of definitions, case studies and exercises which are broken down into four main themes: image, shot, editing, and sound. All of this is easily accessed on your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
