Synopsis:
Three Fates are at the cradle of a new-born baby named Urban. Two of the Fates are good and assign riches and love to Urban. But the evil Fate destines him for poverty and perpetual hardship. When Urban is orphaned, he is taken in as an apprentice by a tight-fisted master watchmaker. Urban grows up and falls in love with the watchmaker's daughter Laura, and they plan to get married. However, the master tasks him with finding a mythical watch that can warn people of death. No-one knows whether the watch even exists, but Urban cannot marry Laura until he brings it home. The watchmaker's apprentice sets out on a long journey filled with obstacles and tasks that he must overcome with his bravery, watchmaking craft and a good heart.
