Aya Films’ recently developed training tool Curate-It makes information about film curation accessible in a digital space. Curate-It provides participants with all they need to know for implementing their own screening event. It is structured as an eight-step programme to teach participants about film theory, film curation and the practical and logistical elements needed to create film events.
The eight steps – Watch-it, Analyse-it, Curate-it, Finance-it, Market-it, Execute-it, Evaluate-it and Screen-it – consist of written information, activities, tailored reading lists, and videos featuring film experts. It also includes a VoD platform to show films online as part of the programme.
While learning the processes and practices of film curation the app also allows participants to:
– Jot down ideas.
– Chat to other users.
– Screen your own programme or film online.
More information about Curate-It can be found here. If you are interested, please contact Justine Atkinson.
For developing the Curate-it app, Aya Films worked in partnership with the Edinburgh Int’l Film Festival, the University of Glasgow and a number of other partners.
