As became clear in the presentation by festival director Calliope Charalambous Krief during ECFA’s recent AGM, the Athens Int’l Children’s Film Festival (ATHICFF) has developed a strong profile in which one key element catches the eye: accessibility.
Elizabeth Shepherd, who, as organiser of the Children’s Film Festival Seattle, often sought to connect with European festivals while firmly upholding the individuality and tradition of her own event, is leaving the festival in good hands.

ECFA has announced the results of their annual ECFA Awards. In an award ceremony, streamed live from the Zlin Film Festival studio, prizes were handed out to MARONA, FORWARD: TOMORROW BELONGS TO US, and MATILDA AND THE SPARE HEAD. All winning directors were present to collect their awards.

In the run-up to the EFA Young Audience Award (April 2021), the EFA Young Audience Summit was held, co-created by and for young cinephiles. 78 young participants from 25 European countries discussed European films in general and the idea of creating a European Film Club Network in particular.
BUSTER’S WORLD (1984) by Oscar-winning director Bille August was voted many times among the “all time children’s film classics”. What could be the motivation behind a 2021 remake? During the ‘Films on the Horizon’ session of the Kristiansand Int’l Children’s Film Festival, director Martin Miehe-Renard came with an answer.
