Olympia present “Creative Ideas” Pitching Lab

The 3rd Olympia “Creative Ideas” Pitching Lab went online during the  Olympia Int’l Film Festival for Children & Young People, and involved 12 interesting short film projects by Greek filmmakers, aiming at young audiences and representing different genres.

The “Creative Ideas” Pitching Lab aims to boost film production for young people in Greece. Pantelis Panteloglou: “We want to nurture the production of remarkable films that meet the international standards, while avoiding the traps of oversimplification and ill-conceived commercialism. A number of films from previous editions have already been completed, while many of this year’s proposals are quite mature. We hope to see them making it onto the big screens soon.

The award of the Greek Film Centre (GFC) went to the animation project ADVENTURES OF A STRAY CAT by Zacharias Mavroeidis. “This story invites young viewers to believe in themselves and can captivate and move large audiences, which creates expectations for the film’s dynamic presence beyond Greek borders.” The award is endowed with a €3,000 cash prize.

The award of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) went to the live action project THE BEAST THAT WALKS AS A MAN by Zoe Sigalou & Marina Siotou “for its optimism regardless of the dystopia, for its sensitivity, its idiom of Balkan history and its universal message”. The award is endowed with a €3,000 cash prize.

Guest lecturers in this year’s edition were screenwriter Tamara Bos (BosBros, the Netherlands) and executive producer Xiaojuan Zhou (president of Attraction Distribution, Canada).

The Olympia “Creative Ideas” Pitching Lab was organised in collaboration with Creative Europe MEDIA Office Greece, and supported by the Greek Film Centre and Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation.
