FORWARD wins ECFA Doc Award in Zlin

The 60th jubilee of the Zlin Int’l Film Festival took an unexpected turn due to a worldwide crisis, but still the team had the courage to organise a physical festival and dedicate it to the audience that really matters the most: the local visitors.

Cinema screenings were attended by over 10,000 spectators. “This proves how the people of our city are really fond of the festival and don’t give up on us despite all complications,” says Executive Director Jarmila Záhorová.

The ECFA Award for Best Documentary went to FORWARD (DEMAIN EST A NOUS). In this French film by Gilles de Maistre we meet dedicated young activists from around the world. What they have in common: an unwavering courage to give shape to a better future. From Peru to India, from France to Guinea, they fight against poverty, social inequalities or climate change.

The ECFA Jury were Elisabeth Lichtkoppler (Austria), Nora Lakos (Hungary) and Judita Soukupova (Czech Republic).

Many prizes were handed out during the award night, that was – once again – broadcasted live on Czech TV. Golden Slippers were given to LIFE WITHOUT SARA AMAT by Laura Jou, Spain (Best Feature, chosen by both the Int’l Expert Jury and the Children’s Jury), THE CROSSING by Johanne Helgeland, Norway (Best Feature for Children) and THE BIRD AND THE WHALE by Carol Freeman, Ireland (Best Animated Short).
