Cinemagic filmmaking in LA

Cinemagic and The British Consulate in Los Angeles have joined forces to stimulate debate on climate change issues using film and media as the vehicle.

Cinemagic Belfast has been delivering film industry opportunities in Los Angeles for 12 years, engaging with thousands of young people in partnership with all the major film studios and production companies.

Now a new innovative project was launched that not only concerns young people’s professional careers, but even the future of our planet. Under the guidance of Cinemagic industry professionals, 20 young people aged 15-21, will create a short film supported by the British Consulate in Los Angeles addressing social responsibility to inspire change and give a platform to the voices of young people. Participants will develop their employability skills in a range of production areas while devising a script on environmental issues that affect their community.

Also, in its own country, Cinemagic fosters the needs of ambitious film fanatics. Only recently the talents of over 150 young filmmakers from Northern Ireland were celebrated at Cinemagic’s Celebrate Creativity Showcase in Belfast, bringing together the next generation of creative industries professionals to mark the achievement of producing eighteen films and behind the scenes documentaries in the last eighteen months.

Cinemagic Belfast recently opened two calls for entries:

– The Call for Entries for the main Cinemagic Belfast festival (October 2022), a competitive international festival based in Northern Ireland and currently the largest award-winning children’s film festival in the United Kingdom and Ireland. More info & submission form.

– Cinemagic Young Filmmakers is looking for original films made by young people, fact or fiction, comedy or drama, news programmes, music video, documentary… The competition is restricted to young filmmakers from or living in the UK and Ireland. More info & submission form.
