Awards @ Cinekid for Professionals

Children’s film professionals are looking forward to the Cinekid for Professionals Awards with an extra interest. These are the films that will colour our market in a few years, and people are more than curious to pick up a glimpse of them now.

At the Junior Co-Production Market, an expert jury selected the best projects.

The Eurimages Co-Production Development Award (€ 20,000) went to SNOT AND SPLASH, director: Teemu Nikki, author: Ilja Rautsi, produced by It’s Alive Films (Finland). SNOT AND SPLASH, an adventure with a profound ecological message, is a previous Cinekid Script LAB project from 2018-2019.

The Best TV Project Award (€ 10,000) went to ART MYSTERIES, director: Martijn Blekendaal, produced by Cerutti Film (the Netherlands, Germany). ECFA published an interview with Martijn Blekendaal in September, about his documentary THE MAN WHO LOOKED BEYOND THE HORIZON. On that occasion he already spoke about planning a series of documentaries about mysterious artists.

The Filmmore Post-Production Award (€ 5,000) went to THE SUMMER DAD WENT GAY, by another bunch of familiar children’s film faces: director Petter Naess and author Endre Lund Eriksen, produced by Fabelfjord AS (Norway).

During the award ceremony, a special Cinekid Honorary Award was handed to Bea Appels and Dick de Jonge (Twin Film) for their outstanding contribution to youth film. Read all about it in a recent edition of the ECFA Journal.

By the way: the Audience Award in this year’s edition of the Cinekid festival went the Swedish comedy SUNE VS SUNE by Jon Holmberg.
