Ale Kino! says: “Yes, we made it!”

On December 2nd in the framework of the Industry / Education Pro event and with the support of ECFA, the Ale Kino! festival (Poznan, Poland) organised an online gathering for European young audience festivals. How did we experience one year of hybrid festivals and what lessons did we learn? And how much did we miss our old festival habits?

Under the rightfully triumphant title “Yes, we made it!” this meeting was an encouraging event (described by one participant as “a collective festival therapy session”) in which mainly positive prospects were exchanged, with reflection on the future of festivals. Approximately 15 festivals all spoke briefly about this year’s biggest successes and challenges. Most online festivals saw a significant increase in audience numbers, often coming from villages or regions that were not covered within the festival’s usual outreach. “These people we want to keep with us in future editions.

Hosted by Ale Kino! director Jerzy Moszkowicz the event went ‘on air’ in an atmosphere of friendly solidarity, making all participants share in a camaraderie that we’ve been missing so much in 2020.
