ECFA proudly presents the first edition of the ECFA documentary award in collaboration with doxs! – dokumentarfilme für kinder und jugendliche, the young audience festival within the Duisburger Filmwoche, the German festival for documentary films.
(12.11.2016) At doxs! Duisburg the first ECFA documentary jury has chosen “Dancing for You” directed by Erlend E. Mo (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, 2015). The jury selected the winner from six nominated films from Germany, The Netherlands and Scandinavia.
ECFA’s jury (Gert Hermans, Belgium; Viola Gabrielli, Germany and Marta Nieto Postigo from Spain) “decided to give the prize to an uplifting film about a child gaining the self confidence to stand up for her aspirations by breaking with gender stereotypes. What touched us the most is that through a sincere respect for the environment and nature ?s elements, the film becomes a celebration of life and the valuable time spent with the people you love. The filmmaker allowed us all the time needed to profoundly get to know the character. We were able to share precious moments in an intergenerational relationship of mutual support in facing different challenges in life.” (From the jury’s statement).
