Synopsis:
Fidan is 15 and takes good care of her younger brothers. Her family lives under poor conditions in the barren mountains in eastern Turkey. One day a car carrying some totally unknown people is driving up. Burdened by poverty and debt, the father has sold his own daughter to a wealthy family as a wife for their son. After a long drive, which is the first time the girl leaves her village, they reach the new home. Fidan is impressed by the magnificent environment. But she is terribly scared of her intended groom, who is not only more than 20 years older than her. Salih is mentally retarded and is pampered and spoiled by his mother. It almost seems as if here again, Fidan is supposed to assume the mother’s role because her education for obedient daughter has taught the girl to suppress her own wishes and hopes. But very carefully a relationship develops between the couple that all parties involved have hardly considered possible.
