Here Comes Lola!

Original title: Hier kommt Lola!
German title: Hier kommt Lola!
Germany, 2009

Director: Buch, Franziska
Production company: Bavaria
Age recommendation: 8 years and up

Synopsis:
This adaptation of a bestseller is all about nine-year-old Lola. She has blond curly hair, likes chewing-gum, and is actually very cheeky. It’s only frogs she can’t stand, and the very idea of one of those – she thinks – revolting animals makes her feel quite faint.

Now Lola and her parents have moved from a little village to Hamburg. Into the very same house where her still young grandparents and her Aunt Lisbeth live. The “auntie” is just two years old and Lola’s family is pretty crazy in other ways, too. Her grandma prefers to sell only the books that she likes herself in her book shop, and her father – who is Brazilian – wants to open a restaurant along with Grandpa, which means they are both under stress from the building work. They don’t notice that Lola feels rather lonely in her new environment. Lola needs a
friend, but it is not so easy to find one. Most of the girls in her class already have a best friend, or they are so busy in the afternoons that there is no time left to play. And so Lola withdraws more and more into a dream world, where she appears in front of millions of fans as pop star Jacky Jones…
