Schlingel puts country focus on Quebec

The next SCHLiNGEL Int’l Film Festival for Children & Young Audiences is drawing closer. Due to the postponement of the autumn holidays in Saxony, the festival will take place a little earlier this year, from 23 – 30 September.

After last year’s country focus on Slovenia, the 28th edition will give special attention to Québec. SCHLiNGEL will also once again feature a strong German programme. More than a handful of German children’s film productions will celebrate their theatrical debut this autumn.

The project in honour of Chemnitz’ Capital of Culture Year in 2025 will take another small step forward. SCHLiNGEL plans to invite 2,000 young people from 25 countries for 2025. The basis for this is the previous Fair Play Youth Jury. This year, young people from Chemnitz, Italy, France and the Czech Republic are already represented on the jury.

SCHLiNGELs IndustryForum will be the meeting place for the children’s and youth film industry from Sunday 24 to Tuesday 26 September. On the one hand, its activities will be increasingly dedicated to Central European Children’s Film and, on the other hand, it will also have a special focus on Québec.

In “ComingSoon”, the oldest IndustryForum format, filmmakers will allow first glimpses of future hits in children’s cinema.

For all professional visitors who do not want to miss the 28th SCHLiNGEL, accreditation will be possible from the end of July via the SCHLiNGEL website. The festival team cordially invites all cineastes to the 28th edition and looks forward to welcoming many familiar and new faces to Chemnitz again.
