The late follower to Joachim Massanek’s “Wild Soccer Bunch”-series received the award for the best film in the 6+-section at this years Giffoni Film Festival: “Wild Soccer Bunch – The Legend Lives” (Germany, 2016).
The audience award at Kinderfilmfest Munich, the children’s section of Filmfest München, went to “At Eye Level” (“Auf Augenhöhe”), directed by Evi Goldbrunner and Joachim Dollhopf (Germany, 2016), a film made within the German programme “Der besondere Kinderfilm”.
With “The Celestial Camel” by Juri Feting (Russia, 2015) as winner of the main prize and “Land of the Good Kids” by Olga Kaptur (Russia, 2013) awarded by the children’s jury two Russian films received the prizes for long films at the Kinlolub Filmfestival for Children and Young People which was held at Krakow and several other cities in the South of Poland.
Arne Toonen’s crowd pleaser „Little Gangster“ also convinced the audience to vote for this film at the „Cinema in Sneakers“ Film Festival for Children in Warsaw.
The children’s jury at the Golden Sparrow German Children’s Media Festival has selected the fairy tale movie „King Laurin“ (Germany, 2016) as best film for children.
The world is full of scaredy-cats. Me too, I found Generation’s opening film SIV SLEEPS ASTRAY quite frightening for the young target audience. Swedish directors Lena Hanno and Catti Edfeldt proved me wrong (see interview page 10).
