NINE LIVES LEFT wins Greek ‘Cinekid Script LAB’ Contest

Zacharias Mavroeidis’ project NINE LIVES LEFT has won the Script Development Contest, organised by the Athens Int’l Children’s Film Festival and Cinekid. This initiative offers an opportunity for Greek filmmakers to participate in one of the largest international script development workshops, the Cinekid Script LAB.

NINE LIVES LEFT is an animated road movie, in which a bunch of cats take the lead. As summer comes to an end on a Greek island, young cat Chantal is back in the stray life after some luxurious months during which she was spoiled by families on vacation. Unfortunately, now the tourists have left, the village has turned into a ghost-town, preparing for the coming of winter. Driven by her stray nature, Chantal sets on an odyssey across the island in search of the right human to adopt her.

Zacharias Mavroeidis and producer Maria Kontogiannis (Wild at heart) will attend the six month script development LAB programme, with a full residency offered by the Athens Int’l Children’s Film Festival. The programme includes meetings in Amsterdam and Berlin, as well as online training sessions with acclaimed tutors.

25 Greek projects were submitted to the contest.
