MAUR Films well represented in Annecy

MAUR film has reasons to be proud. No less than four of their recent productions have been selected for the Annecy Festival 2024, among them is HELLO SUMMER, rightfully selected for the Young Audience section.

This hat-trick of films showcases the vast array of animation techniques and the boundless creativity of authors,” state producers Kamila Dohnalová and Martin Vandas of MAUR film, the renowned Czech production company specialising in animated films. “We are very proud to be a part of these projects, each of which brings something unique to the table. We believe in the power of storytelling to both educate and delight.

Martin Smatana’s THE KITE might have brought you to tears. Now, his new HELLO SUMMER (photo) – a genuine holiday slapstick made together with Veronika Zacharová – is ready to make you roar with laughter. Following a family on vacation, the film makes you wonder what is so nice about sun and sea. While undergoing all the known holiday inconveniences, the still travellers uphold their smiles. The filmmakers blend stop-motion and hand-drawn animation, to deliver a must-see-festival-classic-in-the-making.

HURIKAN

Other MAUR productions in Annecy are HURIKAN, Jan Saska’s professional debut, shining a dystopian light on the Prague suburbs with plenty of beer, blood and pigs. I DIED IN IRPIN is an intimate debut documentary by Ukrainian director Anastasiia Falileieva, a raw and poignant exploration of the Ukrainian conflict. And WEEDS by Pola Kazak has been selected for the Graduation Films category.
