Juniorfest’s energy boosted

Subsequent to this year’s traditional festival edition (scheduled from 6-12th November), the Czech Juniorfest will launch the Juniorfest Online pilot project, in cooperation with the Dafilm platform.

Dafilm is a Czech company, operating on a European level and supported by Creative Europe. Judita Soukupova (Juniorfest): “This online project should complement and reinforce our traditional festival format. Juniorfest offers the best recently produced titles from around the world, whereas Juniorfest Online will offer interesting films from previous years, including the award winners from recent festival editions. We have already agreed on the screening of successful Nordic titles like PSYCHOBITCH (photo) and MONKY. We are also preparing an online introduction and other materials for teachers and students in cooperation with the Free Cinema company. A small fee will be charged, as we want our audience to realise that filmmaking (and film consuming) doesn’t come for free”.

Judita Soukupova: “Taking into account this year’s limited amount of available new films, we will offer fewer titles than in previous Juniorfest editions. But in any case we are compiling an interesting programme, which will also be made available to foreign guests who might not be able to visit the festival. More detailed information will be sent out in summer. And we very pleased to put a special focus on Dutch film production in a programme curated by Cinekid’s programme director Erik Tijman and his team. Actually we understood this crises as a challenge to upgrade Juniorfest from a regional event into a festival with a national and European appeal.”
