QUEEN OF NIENDORF was the winner of the ECFA Award 2018 at the Ciné-Jeune Festival in the French L’Aisne region. In this German film, by Joya Thome, 10-year-old Lea witnesses how her friends, over the course of one summer, all change into surrogate grown-ups. Luckily there is Nico, who doesn’t want a girl in his gang, unless Lea can prove herself worthy.
The ECFA Jury were Milène Ehrhart (Festival Augenblick, Strasbourg), Joris Van Dael (Kidscam, Belgium) and Matthieu Genet (Ciné-Jeune, France).
In the Kristiansand Children’s Film Festival the ECFA Award 2018 went to SUPA MODO. In the German-Kenyan film, by Likarion Wainaina, an indomitable lust for life overshadows sickness for nine year old Jo, who only by her superhero fantasies can forget that she is terminally ill.
In the ECFA Jury were Sita Jacobsen (NFI, Oslo), Iris Verhoeven (JEF, Antwerp) and Nicolai Schultz (Buster, Copenhagen).
