IFF SCHLINGEL will celebrate its 25th anniversary as a physical event in October 2020 and introduces the concept of ‘pitching treatments’, for which submissions are open now.
Report on ECFA Festivals Zoom Meeting available
On 29 June ECFA brought approx. 50 festivals together in an online meeting, looking for answers to their most urgent questions. Several member organisations shared their experiences in different phases of festival preparation:
– The Women’s Film Festival Barcelona (Marta Nieto Postigo) took place in June as an online event.
– The Busan Int’l Kids & Youth Film Festival (Emily Jang) is counting down to next week’s festival opening.
– Cinekid (Heleen Rouw) is preparing her festival for October.
– Xiaojuan Zhou (Attraction Distribution) shared the perspective of a sales agent.
– #OneWorldChildren (Jitendra Mishra) is an online project running successfully in times of lockdown.

#OneWorldChildren, a recent initiative launched by two powerful energy sources from totally different corners of the world, has become more than just an online campaign. Leading children & youth film associations, filmmakers and industry professionals from across the globe have joined hands to empower and engage young people in turbulent times, locked down in their homes, through online workshops, masterclasses and interactive sessions.
ECFA Short Awards in Oberhausen & Budapest
During the lockdown period two Short Film Festivals showed the entrepreneurial spirit to hand out an ECFA Short Award in an online festival edition. This happened in Budapest (Cinemira) and Oberhausen (Internationale Kurzfilmtage). We thank both festivals for their persistence.
