A Cactus in Aosta

In May, the Cactus International Children’s & Youth Film Festival (20-22 May 2022) returns to the Italian region of Aosta after its successful first edition.

The Cactus Festival was born from a passion for stories and cinema, dedicated to children and to everyone who still remembers their childhood. Stories and emotions can unite us all, wherever we are. The Cactus Festival considers such cinematographic stories as an opportunity for growth, moving onwards into multiple cultural and playful directions. During the festival weekend cultural events are scheduled parallel to the film screenings: meetings with authors and entertainment professionals, presentations of books for young people, concerts and workshops to discover the secrets of cinema and the art of storytelling in general. Festival director Alessandro Stevanon: “We offer plenty of moments for children and young people to discover new stimuli, get involved and enter into a relationship with the world around them.”

Among the highlights of this year’s festival are the opening event, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of E.T. – THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL with the screening of the 1982 masterpiece by Steven Spielberg, and a tribute to John Williams with a reconstruction by maestro Daniele Furlani of some of the composer’s most famous soundtracks, from STAR WARS and INDIANA JONES to the HARRY POTTER series.
