Synopsis:
Naples, 1956. A city caught between the aftermath of a World War and the hope for a better future. The bombs have left a virtual army of displaced people living in precarious conditions. The liberation has left the Americans: a majestic fleet at anchor, the impeccably-dressed officers, the rumbling jeeps and soldiers who want for nothing. In this mist, a destitute young boy believes he has become friends with the movie star of his dreams. From the novel by Francesco Costa. (www.tamtamcinema.it)

Naples, 1956. Eleven year-old Vittorio has a fervid imagination and loves cinema, especially films starring his heroine, Susan Hayward. As he wanders round the city, one day he discovers a NATO camp that seems to have come right out of a Hollywood film. Here he sees Susan Hayward talking to a man. Vittorio convinces himself that Susan is in Naples in incognito and that she desperately needs a boy to help her escape from her despotic husband who understands nothing of cinema. In reality, Susan is Ruth, wife of an American General, who takes advantage of her similarity to the star to make Vittorio the ideal accomplice for her infidelity. (Giffoni Film Festival 2003)
