ZEF MOVIE 1 – New Polish Youth Film Festival

Welcome to the first edition of a brand new festival, organised by ZEF – Film Educators’ Team! – in Gliwice, Poland (31 May – 12 June). The Youth Film Festival includes inspiring screenings, workshops and talks with filmmakers, as a testament to how fascinating, engaging and valuable cinema can be for young audiences.

ZEF MOVIE 1 is entirely focused on promoting valuable film productions for young viewers, encouraging them to actively participate in culture – primarily by visiting arthouse cinemas. Like the Gliwice Amok Cinema! The festival’s main location is an arthouse theatre established in 1993 as a part of the Victoria Cultural Centre, supported by the City of Gliwice. On the programme are mainly arthouse films, with particular emphasis on Polish and European productions.

The festival programme includes events for all age groups. The youngest viewers can participate in screenings and creative workshops, while slightly older visitors will have the opportunity to take part in discussions with peers and educators. Among the special events are a pre-premiere screening of SKARBEK I TAJEMNICA MAGICZNEGO SREBERKA (by Tomasz Jurkiewicz) in the presence of the film crew, a treasure hunt for kids around film locations in Gliwice, and a meeting with expert-podcasters about the cult film SPIRITED AWAY by Hayao Miyazaki.

All films presented at the festival have the ZEF Quality Mark. The audience will have a chance to vote for their favourites. A detailed programme can be viewed at www.zef.org.pl.

Project financed from the Gliwice City budget.
