The tension is rising among film colleagues… Looking forward to meeting again on the international festival scene! What place would be better for your glorious return than the Schlingel Festival where even last year, against all odds, much more than a “hybrid”, the ambition was “on location”. The festival is ready to welcome you from 9–16 October in Chemnitz, Germany.
A striking novelty in the Schlingel Industry Forum is the Prelude to the Central European Children’s Film Market (first complete edition is scheduled for 2022), in a partnership with the Ale Kino! festival (Poland) and Zlin Film Festival (Czech Republic). The focus is on the exchange among German, Polish and Czech filmmakers. Starting in Germany in 2022, the project is to take place alternately in the three countries. In ‘Window to the World’, projects of different origin will be presented, while ‘Coming Soon’ gives you an insight into family audience titles currently in production.
Among the 413 feature and short films on the festival programme (including a focus on Russia) are several world premieres, like GHOST IN A BOTTLE (Markus Dietrich, Germany), A BUTTERFLY’S HEART (Inesa Kurklietyté, Lithuania), BEST BIRTHDAY EVER (Michael Ekbladh, Germany/Sweden/Netherlands), OLIVER AND THE POOL (Arcadi Palerm-Artis, Mexico) and RICKSHAW GIRL (Amitabh Reza Chowdhury, Bangladesh/USA). The short film programme NEIGHBOURBOOD will feature productions selected not only by the Schlingel team, but also by the festivals in Poznán (Poland) and Zlín (Czech Republic), while “The Long Night of Short Films” (with short film awards) will uphold its reputation as the ultimate festive night for short film aficionados.
The complete festival programme is now available online.
