Keeping up with animation through the Animation HUB

Thousands of animated films make their way through festivals every year, only to disappear once the festival circuit ends. Discovering quality animation has become increasingly difficult in an online world ruled by algorithms. Animation HUB is your new answer to this long-standing issue.

CEE Animation’s new Animation HUB offers a different approach. The platform gathers nearly 4,000 animated works into a curated environment, complemented by interviews, articles, educational resources, and festival updates. Think of it less as another streaming platform and more as a guide to animation worth discovering. “We believe this is exactly the moment when curated spaces matter again, helping audiences discover films with context, trust, and deeper understanding. CEE Animation created AHUB to help European animation remain visible, accessible, and alive long after its premiere,” says Lucia Dubravay Trautenberger, Project Manager of Animation HUB.

Martina Peštaj

Animation HUB aims to cover the full spectrum of animation, but particularly for those working with animation aimed primarily at younger audiences, the platform provides a special guide in the form of a rating system. “Animation HUB could become a valuable shortcut to international animation for young audiences. But audiences, and especially the children’s audience, are not homogeneous, and there are significant differences among its many segments. That is why CEEA’s Animation HUB launched a dedicated age-classification system that assigns target audiences to the films available on the platform.”

Martina Peštaj is Head of Children’s & Youth Programme at RTV Slovenia, and a dedicated media psychologist. When she was invited to help develop the rating system, she saw it as a unique opportunity to combine her two areas of expertise.

Martina Pešta: “We have categorised the collection of titles on the Animation HUB by age group, as a guide to help audiences make their choices. The Hub serves as an example; people can also apply the system themselves.

That sounds like a tool for family users, but isn’t the platform primarily aimed at professionals?

Martina Peštaj: “The system should clarify for which age group a film works best, but it should also inspire artists who want to create content for children. I see it as a tool to help make even better films for specific target ages.
