Most of her life she has taken on the responsibility of helping her single mum looking after the house and her smaller siblings. Although Xenia takes pride in this role it affects her social life as well as her schoolwork. Now Xenia has an opportunity to start all over. She has enrolled in a continuation school, but can she escape her past and learn to be a normal teenager?

Comments:
The directors Anders Gustafsson and Patrick Book have accompanied their protagonist with a camera over the course of several years and thus allow for significant insights into the process of growing up. The immediacy of the film‘s montage transfers the audience directly
into Xenia‘s realm of experience, and gives a moving and gripping account of the social mechanisms and and adaptive difficulties of adolescents.
