Dreaming about a cinema full of very small creatures? Both in the room and on the screen? With THE VERY SMALL CREATURES by Aardman, you might attract some small human creatures for a super fun screening. Aardman guarantees quality, so there is no objection to giving this TV series a chance in cinemas too, like Les Grignoux and JEF do in Belgium.
THE VERY SMALL CREATURES is a pre-school series from Aardman, commissioned by Sky Kids, using stop-motion animation and clay models. These little characters originated back in the early eighties as colourful sidekicks, however this time they take centre stage in their own series.
Many broadcasters have brought THE VERY SMALL CREATURES into the living rooms. Looking for content for the very youngest audience, Les Grignoux and JEF decided to give Lucy Izzard’s directorial debut a chance on the big screen and selected 12 short films for a 38′ cinema programme. With great success, witness the many online reactions from parents about how their offspring got entranced by so much joyful colour and movement.
In each episode Pink, Blue, Orange, Yellow and Green explore their surroundings and, through play, learn about the world around them, each other, and themselves. With comedy at the forefront, the themes of each episode relate to an aspect of a toddler’s life, from learning about relationships, teamwork and empathy, to understanding each other’s differences. “A great cinema experience that immerses children aged 3+ in empathy, tolerance and love shared by… little balls of playdough! They have strong personalities, they are accomplices, never competitors, always caring for each other through offbeat, funny adventures,” says Ludivine Faniel (Les Grignoux).
More info about the film/series can be found on the Aardman website, where you can also watch a trailer. Time for THE VERY SMALL CREATURES to invade Planet Earth.
