YOUR NEWS BELONGS IN THE ECFA COMMUNITY!
A film discovery, a workshop that sparked something, an ECFA jury, a useful resource or a small project with a big idea—help fellow members discover what you do.
You don’t need a communications department or polished promotional material. ECFA has found a social media expert who can help you. A few lines and a good picture are a great start. Here’s your manual.
- Find us—and help others find us
Follow @ecfa_eu on Instagram. Like, comment and share posts that interest you, and invite your colleagues to join the conversation.
When sharing an ECFA post, add a sentence explaining why it matters to your organisation or audience. Your perspective makes the connection more meaningful.
- Already posting? Give us a nudge
Mention @ecfa_eu in your Instagram caption or Story, and tag us in the photo where relevant. You can also use #ECFA, but please include the account mention so we have a better chance of spotting it.
For news on Facebook, LinkedIn or another channel, send us the direct link to the post. You don’t need to reproduce everything in an email.
Tags and notifications can be missed. For anything time-sensitive—or anything posted from a private account—please email us too. A tag or collaboration invitation does not guarantee a repost.
- No post yet? Send the ingredients
Email socialmedia@ecfaweb.org with:
- What’s happening? Two or three sentences in plain language.
- Why should ECFA members care? What could they discover, learn, join or use?
- When and where? Include the year, deadline and time zone for timed events.
- What should people do next? Register, read, watch, apply—or simply discover something new.
- Where can they find out more? One direct link, plus your organisation’s social media handle.
- What can we show? A photo, short video or other suitable visual, with its credit.
Short, clear English is helpful; it doesn’t need to be perfect. If language is a barrier, send what you have and tell us which language it is.
- Make your pictures easy to use
Send the original image or video if possible, rather than a screenshot or a picture copied from a document. Keep important information in the accompanying text as well as on a poster.
For large files, use a download or shared-folder link. Check that the recipient can open and download it without requesting access. Tell us if the link expires. There is no need to make a whole folder public.
Include:
- The photographer’s or creator’s credit.
- Confirmation that ECFA may use the material on its social channels.
- Any restrictions on cropping, editing, subtitles or reuse.
- A brief description of what the image shows; for video, include captions or a transcript if available.
How to choose a good picture
Choose a high-quality photo rather than a poster full of text.
Send the original images, without any added text, where possible.
State the name of the photographer or creator and confirm that the necessary permissions have been obtained.
For videos, provide subtitles where available.
Especially when children appear: share only material cleared for this use, with the necessary permissions. Avoid unnecessary names or personal details.
- Give us a little time
For events, calls and deadlines, aim to send material one to two weeks ahead. For award results, send it promptly after the official announcement.
If something must stay private until a particular moment, write “DO NOT PUBLISH BEFORE…” and give the exact date, time and time zone. Tell us quickly if details change.
What makes a good ECFA story?
Think beyond “our festival is coming”: a new approach to film education, an accessible screening, a member collaboration, a jury’s perspective, a useful publication or a lesson others can borrow.
Small organisations and everyday achievements are very welcome.
ECFA will select and adapt contributions according to relevance, timing and available capacity. Sending material does not guarantee publication. Please name one person we can contact with questions.
