Open Call: TAIFAS Film Residency 2026

Got a short film in the making? A wild idea or a brilliant treatment? The TAIFAS Film Residency is inviting young filmmakers (-30) from Central & Eastern Europe to develop their projects during a film residency, in a collaborative festival setting.

Taking place during the TAIFAS – Balkan Film & Culture Festival (12–17 October 2026, Timișoara), the residency offers workshops, mentorship, and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow filmmakers. Travel, accommodation and festival access are all covered; the only thing to focus on is your film!

Applicants must be under 30 and have a short film project in development, ideally engaging with themes related to Balkan cinema and culture.

Sînziana Pintean (TAIFAS): “We imagine the residency as a space for a true exchange of ideas, where young filmmakers from across Europe can meet, challenge, and inspire one another. With the guidance and support of Ivana Mladenović, participants are encouraged to explore new perspectives, build confidence in their voices, and form connections that we hope will continue to grow well beyond the festival. At the same time, the residency reflects the spirit of the Taifas Film Festival itself: a platform dedicated to fostering meaningful dialogue through cinema.

Deadline: 15 May 2026
