What happens when a whole generation grows up without local films to call their own? Romanian producer Irina Enea (Baking Films, F-SPOT Society) is setting out to change that, with an audience-driven approach.
On 10 May, the crowdfunding campaign for KID HAZARD (original title PERICOL) goes live: a lively, humorous and heartfelt children’s feature about friendship, teamwork, and growing up, aimed at both young audiences and adults.

The project already has a strong international track record, with selections at Transilvania Pitch Stop (TIFF), Cinekid Junior Co-Production Market, and PLAY Lisboa, as well as awards in Vila Kult and Cottbus. Yet in Romania, children’s cinema has been largely absent for decades, creating a clear gap between audiences and local stories.
Iriana Enea (Baking Films – member of ECFA): “Rather than waiting for the system to catch up, we decided to take a more proactive approach and mobilise audiences directly. Our goal is not only to finance this film but also to spark a broader movement and show that there is a real audience, a demand, and an emotional connection to local children’s cinema. We genuinely hope this campaign can become a meaningful case study that inspires or encourages others facing similar challenges across Europe.”
