Industry Days at Diagonale Focus on Children’s Film

At the Diagonale Film Meeting – the industry platform of Austria’s National Film Festival in Graz – children’s film will take centre stage. With a dedicated focus on filmmaking for young audiences, this year’s programme aims to spark fresh momentum and meaningful, long-term change.

Two keynote speeches by leading experts Rikke Flodin (PUBLIKUM) and Maciej Jakubczyk (Young Horizons), followed by an in-depth on-stage discussion, will explore how creative, structural, and policy frameworks can better support films for young viewers.

What can be learned from international best practices? What does it take to make children’s films a strong and sustainable part of Austria’s film culture? A closed-door think tank will also bring together key players from across the Austrian film industry—from production and funding to distribution and film education—to develop concrete strategic measures and improve the overall conditions for children’s and youth filmmaking.

Diagonale runs from 18-23 March. The Diagonale Film Meeting is held on March 19 & 20.
