Synopsis:
“Tsumu” is a Tunumiit word that means something like “where should we go?” Lars, Eino, and Thomas are teenagers who live in Tasiilaq, a town on the eastern coast of Greenland, where society is reeling from the rapid changes brought by colonisation and modernisation. This expresses itself in alcoholism, violence, and a high suicide rate. In this powerful and empathetic documentary, Kiertzner delves into the fears and dreams of three young men who are using their theatre group to search for a way of expressing something that is difficult to put into words. Should they leave and go their own ways, or stay out of worry for their friends and families? Told in their own words, and often using footage they shot themselves, it is a kaleidoscopic study of young people who insist on their right to yearnings, and to leave behind conventional ideas of youth, gender roles, and more. Where can you go with your dreams?
