Synopsis:
The apprentice witch Bibi Blockberg and her friends are overjoyed. By conjuring up a rain cloud, Bibi saved two children who were stuck inside a burning house. Her mother, Barbara Blocksberg, is very proud of the good deed, only Bibi’s father is not quite sure what to make of the witchcraft of his two „girls“. To top it all, the head witch Walpurgia tells Bibi that because of her special witching achievements she is to receive the crystal ball earlier than expected. Bibi is thrilled, because only this crystal ball will make her a fullfledged witch. Filled with pride, but also a little bit nervous, she flies to the Blocksberg with her mother. But the sneaky witch Rabia begrudges the apprentice witch this high honor and drops the crystal ball at the handover ceremony. To make up for it, she is forced to hand over her own crystal ball to Bibi. Still at the ceremony, she swears to get it back from Bibi. And she
stops at nothing. First she sows discontent between Bibi and her friend Florian. Next, Bibi’s father is suddenly accused of embezzlement and fraud. He is certain that his wife and daughter’s witchcraft is to blame for everything. He confronts them with a choice: either witchcraft or family. In order to
endanger their family life, they agree to give up witchcraft. But then Bibi discovers Rabia’s mean tricks. With the help of her school mates Schubia and Arcadia she is able to prove Rabia’s guilt. (Lucas Filmfestival 2002)
