VIZO’S FILM SUMMER & AUTUMN

Eye on Film Festival: Autumn 2017

After the spring edition of the ‘Eye on Film’ Festival for youth in Ljubljana, Vizo is now announcing the festival’s autumn programme, decentralised across 9 different towns in Slovenia. The festival’s autumn edition will start on 30 September in Maribor and from there travel the country for 10 days. In a programme, selected from the world’s most acclaimed film festivals (Zlin, Olympia, Black Nights, Berlin, Toronto…), the audience can enjoy 17 features, 2 medium length and 16 short films all of them reporting about the everyday life of youngsters from 29 countries across the globe. The programme includes two documentary titles about juvenile prisons (STARLESS DREAMS from Iran and THEY CALL US MONSTERS from the USA), the Oscar winning Hungarian short SING! or challenging titles about teenagers struggling with life’s hardships (like NENA, MY FIRST HIGHWAY, RARA, BLUE BICYCLE and VALDERAMA). The Slovenian autumn will definitely look cinematographic because: everything was once a film!

MAF’s summer film camp
As film plans are never put to rest in their minds, Vizo and its platform for the development of film culture among young people MAF (Mad About Film) organise a summer film camp (31 July – 6 August) for youngsters (15 – 18 years old) in Slovenia’s most fairy region, Bela Krajina, with a multitude of films screened in an open air cinema. Profound debates are held before and after the screenings. The programme also includes workshops about animation and art craft, film shootings, a film review writing course and the visit of professional film makers introducing their work to the young participants.
