SUNDANCE KIDS

The annual Sundance Film Festival has introduced audiences to some of the most ground-breaking films of the past three decades and the 2018 Festival will surely be no exception. Each year more than 48,000 artists, film goers and industry members flock, and Sundance Institute knows that among those audiences there is a large number of students and young people hungry for an entree into the independent film world.

Next January will mark the fifth year Sundance Institute has collaborated with the Utah Film Center to program a section of the festival specifically for the youngest independent film fans. What started out as “Sundance Kids” named fondly as a play on founder Robert Redford’s iconic role as the Sundance Kid in BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID is now known simply as “Kids.” Over the years films like THE EAGLE HUNTRESS, MY LIFE AS A ZUCCHINI, OPERATION ARCTIC, ZIP AND ZAP AND THE MARBLE GANG, MARS GENERATION and LITTLE GANGSTER have screened as part of this section dedicated to presenting the best independent and international films for younger audiences.

Film are currently being considered for the 2018 Sundance Film Festival Kids section. For inquiries on submitting a film for consideration contact programming@sundance.org or Patrick Hubley, Director of Programming at the Utah Film Center (phubley@utahfilmcenter.org). The 2018 Sundance Film Festival runs 18-28 January in Park City, Salt Lake City, and Sundance, Utah.
