Christian Ditter's "The Crocodiles" (Germany 2009) won both the audience's and the children's jury award at the Cinekid International Film, TV and New Media Festival for Children and Young People in Amsterdam.
Christian Ditter's film is based on the novel "Die Vorstadtkrokodile" by Max von der Grün, which is most famous in Germany. In Germany the film had about 650.000 cinema admissions.
Thes experts' jury award at Cinekid 2009 received "A Brand New Life" by Ounie Lecomte (France, South Korea). The jury called the film, about growing up in an orphanage and waiting for adoption, a notable debut of exceptional quality for both adults and children. A Special Mention received "Skellig" by Annabel Jankel (VS, England), and to the actor Ali Shadman for his extraordinary performance in "A Time to Love" by Ebrahim Forouzesh (Iran). In the film Shadman plays a spastic boy who is hidden from the outside world by his family. During a discussion that followed one of the film's screenings, there was considerable commotion when it turned out that the actor is in real life absolutely healthy and normal. (25.10.2009)
