Rolli
Original title: Rölli ja metsänhenki
German title: Rölli und die Elfen
Finland, 2001
Director: Saarela, Olli
Production company: MRP Matila Röhr Productions Oy
Age recommendation: 6 years and up
Synopsis:
One could not be blamed for mistaking these creatures for trolls but the truth to the rolley identity could not be far more removed. Rolleys are hairy, rowdy, a terrible tribe led by an enlightened Old Chief who guides them accross the distant seas to a mysterious territory, soon to be declared as Rolley country. Harbouring their boats along the shore a map leads this pack of loathsome animals to an elf village deep in the woods. The elves are scared of the approaching tribe and hide. Finding the village deserted the Rolley tribe settles down into their new home with a great ease and comfort.
Millie, a brave, young elf girl, returns to the village and runs into a sensitive Rolli. They become friends. The other Rolleys in the tribe do not approve of sensitive behaviour and consequently a series of funny and exciting tests of strength between good and evil, friendship and hostility, resolves the crisis. Beasts and fairies, rolleys and elves, learn to live peacefully with one another.
